Emil Mirazchiev graduated in Graphics from the National Academy of Arts, Sofia (1986). He specialised Graphic Techniques in Leipzig (1989). He works in graphics, video art, photography, installation, object and new media. He is one of the founders of the Plovdiv group Edge, which is emblematic for the development of unconventional forms in contemporary conceptual art in Bulgaria.
He is the author and the head of several projects and art festivals: the Graphic Studio international project – Plovdiv, the Facade Video Festival, LUMMIX Light Art Festival. He is the president of the Art Today Association and the Art Director of the Centre for Contemporary art, Ancient Bath, Plovdiv.
His works are dominated by his wish to provoke the senses using the means of the minimalist aesthetics. In recent years, he has been actively working in the field of action in the public, social and political space. His individual exhibitions are: Objects Exhibition, hand-made paper, Binz 39 Gallery, Zurich, Art 36 Gallery, Sofia, City Art Gallery Plovdiv (1996), Graphics Exhibition, Ata-Rai Gallery, Sofia (1998), Wag the Dogs video-installation, Centre for Contemporary Art, Plovdiv (2000), 24 Carats, Sariev Gallery. He is also the curator and the organiser of various exhibitions and projects: Front for Communication at the Centre for Contemporary Art, Plovdiv (1999-2001), Contemporary Art Week – Videoart (1998), Reflexions (2003), The Ideal (2004), The Edge Museum (2016), Art. No Borders. Plovdiv (2019), Urban Dreams – HEICO – "Heritage, Identity and Communication in European Contemporary Art Practices" (2012), Four of Edge, Exhibition at the Embassy of Switzerland, Sofia (2000). He participated in national and international events: Continental Breakfast, October Salon, Belgrade (2004), 26th Biennale of Graphic Arts, Ljubljana (2005), Criticism of the Pure Image – between the Fake and the Quotation, Centre for Contemporary Art, Plovdiv (2005), Triennial of Contemporary Art, Prague (2008).
